Family Law

Perhaps the best example of a time when you really do need to ‘find out where you stand’ is when you are experiencing family/partnership/matrimonial difficulties. An initial meeting can be used to establish what would happen to you, to any children involved, and to any assets belonging to either party, in the event of a split.

If a split has already occurred, we can advise you on what might be negotiated by way of an enforceable legal agreement.

If matters cannot be negotiated, we can raise appropriate court proceedings on your instruction. Our approach in these matters is always to seek a solution and never to rush into unnecessary conflict.

Litigation solicitors in Scotland are ‘officers of court’ and thus have a duty to advise clients against taking unreasonable stances on matters of child contact arrangements, for example. Most family disagreements involve property – often the matrimonial home, but sometimes business assets – and we have the experience and ability to carry out all the necessary legal work to put your agreement (or court order) into effect.
